About Us

Uplifting lives. Embracing purpose since 1967.

Since we opened our first senior living campus in 1967, we’ve been dedicated to helping others live a life of purpose in a warm, comfortable and welcoming environment.

Goodwin Living

Powered by purpose. Driven by compassion.

At Goodwin Living, our mission is to support, honor and uplift the lives of older adults and those who care for them. Since 1967 everything we’ve done is in service of that mission, and it has helped us build a strong, compassionate and evergrowing community inside and outside our senior living campuses.

We serve older adults across Northern Virginia and the D.C. metro area through a range of services—from our campuses to health care to home care to rehabilitation, hospice and more—all so they can live with confidence, dignity, joy and purpose—at every stage of aging.

Our Community TIMELINE

Five communities, one commitment

Each of our senior living campuses offers a distinct sense of place—shaped by its neighborhood, history and residents—but all are united by a shared sense of purpose and a commitment to personalized care.

Management services

Supporting partners who support older adults

At Goodwin Living, we offer trusted management services to help other senior living communities in our area thrive—sharing our expertise so more older adults can benefit from healthy and supportive environments. By handling day-to-day operations behind the scenes, we empower partners to focus on what matters most: enriching the lives of those they serve.

Goodwin Living Foundation

A foundation of support, generosity and compassion

At the heart of our campuses lives a spirit of generosity. The Goodwin Living Foundation exists to ensure that every resident has the security to remain in their home—even if financial circumstances change—and that every team member has the opportunity to grow, learn and thrive.

Many of the Goodwin Living Foundation’s most dedicated supporters are the very people who call our campuses home. Residents give back with purpose, helping fund programs that support their neighbors, enrich campus life and invest in those who care for them each day. From financial assistance and wellness programs to staff scholarships and training, the Foundation strengthens every corner of our community.

Goodwin Living Health

Care around every corner

At Goodwin Living, expert care is part of everyday life. Through Goodwin Living Health, residents have access to a wide range of services—including home health, rehabilitation, home care, hospice and brain health programs.

Care is delivered by a dedicated team of skilled nurses, therapists, caregivers and social workers, who know our residents and put their whole hearts into everything they do. With on-site health, rehabilitation and wellness centers across our campuses, residents receive the care they need—without leaving home.

What our residents are saying

  • The View Alexandria icon

“After moving in, I started walking the floors late in the evening most nights when I didn’t have a theater ticket. I enjoyed the walks. Listening to my music, frequently singing along in the deserted halls.

“Sometime in 2021, I ceased walking due to worsening lower back pain. In the fall of 2022, I was diagnosed with multi-level degenerating disks and moderately severe arthritis in my spine. I began physical therapy with Goodwin Rehabilitation here at The View Alexandria.

“My physical therapist recently suggested I might be able to resume my walks using a walking stick. Tonight for the first time, I walked with my nifty new stick and my music. Yippee skippee!”

  • The View Alexandria icon

“The house was getting to be too much for us. Ken had hip surgery, and before he’d completely recovered from that, we both got COVID. It was one thing on top of the other. Within days of our arrival, we knew this had been a good decision. It was like we were meant to be here.”

  • The View Alexandria icon

“What I like most about The View Alexandria is that it is large enough to have so many activities though small enough that you really get to know people.”

  • Goodwin Living Campuses icon

“We had been on an adventure in search of the best fit CCRC we could find. Of the approximately 27 locations that we visited, hands down in every respect, GHA was and is rated as number one above all others we observed.”

“The most standout differentiator at GHA that drew our attention was the high quality of leadership and the focus on resident quality of life. Because of GHA leadership, Goodwin House Alexandria consistently delivers results that are above and beyond all expectations.”

“The dining atmosphere is always inviting, the serving staff courteous and attentive. Plus the six dining venues are always neat, clean and orderly, a sure sign that the right people are paying attention. The menu choices are unmatched in quality, availability, freshness and variety. Thank you for all that you do.”

  • Goodwin Living Campuses icon

“Few things can be counted on not to change, and one of those things is the Foundation’s support for residents. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing Goodwin Living will be faithful to its pledge.”

  • Goodwin Living Campuses icon

“The Foundation helped me re-organize my debts, and with my remaining limited income, feel less guilty about the fact that I could not continue to support others or organizations at the level I had in the past.”

  • Goodwin Living Campuses icon

“For a number of years my husband and I contemplated a move to Goodwin Living. Finally, early this year we received a call. Two months later we were offered our heart’s desire, the Rosslyn. We have truly found a home in Goodwin Living. And for me, it’s reassuring to know that I have good medical care available in my own home. Thank you, God, for Goodwin Living.”

Campus moments in real time

Get a glimpse into daily life at Goodwin Senior Living Campuses

Goodwin Living joined @american_bic for a press conference at the U.S. Capitol to #SecureAmericasWorkforce.

Goodwin Living President & CEO Rob Liebreich and Goodwin Living resident Rita Siebenaler spoke alongside U.S. Representatives Maria Salazar (R-FL) and Tom Suozzi (D-NY) and other community leaders about the importance of bipartisan immigration reform to support our nation's workforce, businesses and aging population.

Rob stated, "Closing our borders to these immigrants has another consequence -- care-flation. Fewer senior living workers means higher care costs. Higher care costs leads to care-flation."

With team members from over 80 countries and a program that has helped more than 200 individuals gain citizenship, Goodwin Living is dedicated to the cause!

There’s nothing better than neighbors helping neighbors! 🧡

Today, Goodwin Living partnered with Don Ryan, Director of Partnerships at @RebuildingTogether, to gift a dryer to a local veteran. Together we’re helping older adults live safely and comfortably in our community. 🧺

As part of our continued collaboration with Rebuilding Together, Goodwin Living Bailey's Crossroads will also be donating several refrigerators, washers, dryers and microwaves to support more households in the area.
